Shelby Taylor: Start-up Earth to Kids is aiming to make meal time a lot easier on moms. Focused on the development of healthy, natural, nutrient-dense, organic, non-GMO and gluten-free foods, Collingwood native Shelby Taylor is set to produce and market organic food in Ontario and Quebec health food stores and then across Canada in grocery stores. Her first product is organic chickpea shell, fusilli and mini-penne pasta, called Chickapea. Realizing that dream just got a little easier, with Earth to Kids being awarded a grant through Ontario Centres of Excellence’s SmartStart Seed Fund.
Duane Homick: A husband and father of three living just outside Barrie, who loves sports, fitness, technology and startups. Duane has worked at Amazon.com in Seattle, did 5 years at Sandvine in Waterloo, started hisown company called Homick Labs which joined with Five Mobile to form Zynga Toronto in 2010, and recently left in April 2015 to launch his latest startup, GymNext. GymNext is dedicated to bringing innovative technology to recreational sports and fitness to enhance the experience of coaches, trainers, officials, athletes and spectators.
